Social Prescribing Intervention for Health Promotion in Community-Dwelling Older Adults

Aging Health Promotion Mental Health

This study evaluates the effects of a social prescribing intervention on health promotion outcomes in community-dwelling older adults. The intervention consists of a 4-week mindfulness meditation program followed by a 12-week walking-pole exercise program. The purpose of the study is to determine whether this combined intervention improves physical function, psychological well-being, and sleep quality. Eligible participants aged 55 years and older will be enrolled from community settings and will receive the same 16-week intervention. Assessments will be conducted at baseline, after the mindfulness phase, after completion of the full intervention, and 3 months after the intervention ends. Study outcomes include physical function, mood, well-being, sleep quality, and indicators of continued participation and lifestyle change. The investigators hypothesize that the combined social prescribing intervention will lead to improvements in physical and psychological health among community-dwelling older adults and support healthy aging.

Prospective Study of Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic and Robotic) Hernia Repair (Incisional and Primary, Midline and Lateral, Not Inguinal)

Ventral Hernia Midline Hernia Lumbar Incisional Hernia Repair

We register all adult patients (who have given their informed written consent) who are scheduled for elective repair of an abdominal wall hernia (NOT inguinal hernias) via minimally invasive operation technique (i.e.: laparoscopy or robotic repair) and perform a follow up of 5 years to analyze clinical outcome parameters. These parameters include recurrence of the hernia, intra- and postoperative complications, quality of live, esthetic outcome and pain. The patients will be reviewed in person by the participating physicians at 2-3 moths, 1 year, 3 years and 5 years after surgery. A computed tomography will be performed at 1 year after surgery and in case of suspicion of complications, for example hernia recurrence. The treatment and follow-up of the participating patients does not differ from the standard treatment protocol (and the not participating patients).

Impact of Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy®) on Heart and Muscle Mass

Type 2 Diabetes Obesity Semaglutide GLP-1 +1

The aim of this study is to use advanced MRI scans to track changes in both muscle and fat in the body and heart over a 12-month period in individuals starting semaglutide. By doing so, we hope to gain a clearer understanding of how semaglutide affects muscle health and function. Our goal is to ensure the medication supports long-term well-being, particularly for people who may be at higher risk of muscle loss. This study involves (3) in-person study visits. At each visit, participants will be asked to: * Undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) while resting and during exercise to take pictures of their heart, abdomen, and legs. * Complete tests to assess balance, sit-to-stand, walking speed, and handgrip strength. * Complete questionnaires related to demographics, health information, physical activity, and nutrition. * Have a blood sample collected from a vein in your arm. * Have your blood levels assessed through three finger pricks. * Complete three days of food records.

Morphometric Study of the Female Pelvic and Lower Abdominal Retroperitoneum in Cadavers

Pelvic Anatomy Retroperitoneum Cadaveric Study Surgical Anatomy

This study aims to provide a systematic anatomical and morphometric description of the female pelvic and lower abdominal retroperitoneum using cadaveric dissection, with direct application to gynecologic surgery. Standardized dissections will be performed in adult female cadavers obtained from a body donation program. Key anatomical structures, including the ureter, iliac vessels, aorta, inferior vena cava, hypogastric plexuses, and lymphatic territories, will be identified and measured. Spatial relationships, distances, and anatomical variations will be recorded using direct measurements and standardized photographic documentation. The study will quantify anatomical variability and asymmetry between right and left hemipelves, focusing on ureteral, vascular, and neural structures. The results are expected to improve surgical planning, particularly in nerve-sparing techniques and pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy, and to support the development of an applied anatomical atlas for educational and clinical use.

Survey on Physical Activity and Qualify of Life in Fibromuscular Dysplasia

Fibromuscular Dysplasia of Arteries Fibromuscular Dysplasia Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection

Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a disease of the arteries that is not due to plaque build-up or inflammation. While some patients with FMD are health, some may experience heart attacks, strokes, aneurysms or blood vessel dissection/tearing which can be life-threatening. It predominantly impacts women and younger patients. As a result of this diagnosis, many patients are counseled to restrict or avoid certain physical activities out of concern for provoking or worsening vascular complications. There are no guidelines or consensus recommendations regarding appropriate physical activity for patients with FMD. The lack of consensus may lead to confusion for patients and may negatively impact their quality of life. This study will conduct a large, national survey of patients with FMD to assess the type of physical activity restrictions and impact on quality of life and emotional well-being.

Effectiveness of a Visual Biofeedback Program Versus Conventional Physiotherapy on Shoulder Mobility, Strength, and Function in Women After Breast Cancer Surgery

Breast Cancer Shoulder Dysfunction

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a physiotherapy program incorporating visual biofeedback compared to a conventional physiotherapy program in improving shoulder function in women following breast cancer surgery. Breast cancer survivors frequently experience shoulder dysfunction, including reduced range of motion, decreased strength, altered neuromuscular activity, and impaired scapulohumeral control. While conventional physiotherapy is effective, there is growing interest in interventions targeting motor control and neuromuscular coordination through biofeedback strategies. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group receiving conventional physiotherapy or an experimental group receiving the same program supplemented with visual biofeedback using the MotionGuidance system. Outcomes will include shoulder strength, range of motion, functional performance, electromyographic activity, and muscle oxygen saturation.

Effects of Nunchaku Exercise for Improving Frozen Shoulder

Adhesive Capsulitis

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate if nunchaku exercise works to treat adhesive capsulitis, or frozen shoulder in middle-aged or older adults. It will also learn about the adherence of this exercise intervention. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does practicing nunchaku exercises help reduce shoulder pain and improve shoulder movement? * Do people stick with nunchaku exercises better, and spend more time practicing on their own, compared with standard exercises for alleviating frozen-shoulder? Researchers will compare nunchaku exercise to standard exercises for alleviating frozen-shoulder to see if nunchaku exercise works to alleviate frozen shoulder. Participants will: * Join small group exercise classes for 12 weeks, doing either nunchaku based exercises or standard exercises designed to help relieve frozen shoulder. * Have their shoulder pain and movement checked three times: * before training * after 6 weeks of training, * after finishing the 12 week program, and * 12 weeks after the program ends. * Keep a record of their home practice time.

A Study of Hydronidone Capsules in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis B Virus-Related Liver Fibrosis

Chronic Hepatitis B-related Liver Fibrosis

This trial employs a single-arm, open-label, multicenter clinical trial design. All study participants who meet the inclusion/exclusion criteria will receive Hydronidone treatment for 4 weeks. The study includes a screening period (up to 21 days) to assess the eligibility of participants. Eligible participants will enter the treatment period and receive Hydronidone capsules at a dosage of 270 mg TID (30 mg/capsule, 3 capsules each time, three times daily, taken orally half an hour before meals) for 28 consecutive days. Participants will return for a follow-up visit on Day 28 (±3 days) after the first dose for safety assessments. All adverse events (AEs) and concomitant medications occurring during the study period must be recorded. After the treatment period, participants will enter a follow-up period to monitor any delayed adverse events. Participants who complete the final follow-up visit are considered to have completed the study. Throughout the study, participants must maintain the stability of all their pre-existing treatment regimens, including antiviral therapy and medications for other comorbid conditions.

Anrikefon-based Patient-controlled Intravenous Analgesia Following Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic Surgery Visceral Pain, Postoperative Anrikefon Patient-controlled Intravenous Analgesia

Visceral pain following laparoscopic surgery is frequently underestimated, yet it is associated with a range of adverse outcomes. Effective visceral pain management should constitute an essential component of postoperative analgesic strategies following laparoscopic procedures. However, conventional analgesic agents, including μ-opioid receptor agonists, lack specificity for visceral pain. Anrikefon, a novel selective peripheral κ-opioid receptor agonist, demonstrates unique efficacy in alleviating visceral pain with a favorable safety profile. Preliminary studies showed that a single intravenous dose of anrikefon effectively alleviates postoperative pain after abdominal surgery with a low risk of adverse effects. The investigators hypothesize that an appropriate dosing regimen of anrikefon administered via patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) pump, as part of a multimodal analgesic strategy, can specifically target and alleviate visceral pain after laparoscopic surgery, thereby achieving comprehensive postoperative analgesia.
